Information for CDE Competitors
We will not be holding a Combined Driving Event during Western States Horse Expo. We are looking at alternative dates for a CDE at MEC. Our combined events require more facility than is available at MEC.
Note that any questions related to the CDE should be directed to the Show Secretary, not to Murieta Equestrian Center.

Combined Test (Dressage and Cones)
The following information is being updated, some information applies to the 2019 event and has been left here only for reference. Any mention of Expo does not relate to future events.
Dressage Tests
Training: Training Level Test POM
Preliminary: Preliminary Level Test POM
Intermediate: Intermediate Level Test 7
Advanced:
Single Horse & Pony - Test 3*B HP1
Pairs Horse & Pony - Test 3*B HP2
Four in hand Horse & Pony - Test 3*B HP4
VSE tests will be in the same size arena as ponies and horses.
Arena and warm-up in grass fields
Marathon
Training: 10-12 km, 5 Obstacles
Preliminary: 12-13 km, 6 Obstacles
Intermediate/Intermediate II: 12-14 km, 7 Obstacles
Terrain: farm roads and mowed track through fields, with small hills
Stabling
Stabling is mandatory. Portable 10 x 10 plastic coated canvas with covers and lights. 2 bales of shavings provided. Tack stalls same price. No stall deposit. Stalls do not need to be stripped at the end of the show.
Parking
Hook-ups are available adjacent to the stabling. Other trailer parking will be a short distance away, with plenty of room to hitch at your trailer. In order to figure out who will fit where, the entry form requests length of truck and trailer, and any other vehicles that will be coming. It is important that you include that information, and be accurate.
Health Requirements
Every entry will need to provide proof of flu and rhino vaccination before arrival. Refer to the ADS rule book, Article 6.3 for what is required.
Negative Coggins test certificate and health certificate required for out-of-state horses. These forms may be emailed later, if not available at the time you send in your entry. However, the Secretary must have them before you arrive at the show.
Fees
Entry fee: $295 Post-entry fee: additional $50
NCDC Members: first 25 entries will receive $30 rebate at the show
(determined by postmark and current roster)
Stabling: $190, includes 2 bags shavings
Additional Shavings: $9.50 per bag
ADS fee: $5 for ADS members
ADS non-member fee: $30
CA drug testing fee: $5 per equine
Camping with hookup: $200 for the week
Golf carts: $300 (you must be a licensed driver to operate a golf cart)
Refund policy: Full refund before closing date. After closing date, at the discretion of the Organizer.
Tentative Schedule
Stabling opens Wed May 6. Early arrival by arrangement - contact the Secretary. Competitors should arrive by 10 am on Thursday. Contact secretary for later arrivals. There will be no trailer admission to our grounds during Expo hours.
Secretary's office opens Wed May 6, 9 am
Competitors' Briefing and pizza dinner, Weds May 6, 7:30 pm. Due to the unusual nature of the venue, all competitors should plan to attend.
Dressage Friday May 8, 9 am
Marathon Saturday May 9, 9 am
Cones Sun May 10, 9 am
Dog policy
Dogs are not allowed at the Expo. They have granted an exception to us, but ONLY for the stabling and parking areas, and on leash. This will be strictly enforced. Violators will be fined, and repeat offenders will be asked to leave the grounds.
Miscellaneous
Remember also that protective vests are required for marathon. If anyone has an extra they are willing to lend, please communicate that to the Secretary.
Each entry will receive 2 passes to Expo, and 2 parking passes.
Camping, food, hotels, etc.
Hookups are adjacent to the stabling, and will be allotted on a first-come basis through the Show Secretary. They are partial hookups including water and electric. Septic pumping available by arrangement through Show Secretary.
A limited number of RVs with water and electric hook-up are available for rental on a first come basis through Sven at Murieta Equestrian Center. 916-531-7123 Let him know you are with the Driving group.
The CDE will not be providing any food during the event, except for pizza during the competitor briefing on Wed evening. There will be food vendors at the Horse Expo. Check the Expo's web site (https://horsexpo.com/) for hours, etc.

Please note that those directions are for spectators, and do not tell you where to enter the grounds. You will NOT be entering the grounds through the spectator parking entrance. There will be signs for CDE trailer parking. Note that if you do not arrive by 10 am Thursday, the trailer entrance will be closed, and you will need to call the NCDC CDE show secretary.
